Part 2: What makes a person Muslim?
As mention in the previous article, Islam is more than a religion. It is a process of submission and adapting it as a way of life. But what do a person submit to and making them a Muslim
In Islam there is what we called as an article of Faith, a spiritual guide and belief that every Muslim would submit to. This would be elaborated briefly in a series of articles. The article of faith is as below;
- Belief in Allah
- Belief in Angels
- Belief in His books
- Belief in His Messenger
- Belief in the day of Judgement
- Belief in the Divine Pre-Ordainment and Divine Decree
As a monotheistic religion, a Muslim believe that Allah is the One God, to whom worship is due; that He is the Creator and the Sustainer of everything; that it is He who gives life and causes death, and that He is Unique in His Names and Attributes. He is not attributed in any form in of idols or symbol to be worship. It is important to belief in the Unseen God and not to be attributed with other.
For example, a ship would navigate best with only one captain at helm. Multiple captain within a vessel would go nowhere. Similar to a person’s life.
